The sheet of black paper holds a collage of torn fragments that reproduce plaster shards, arranged so that they occupy a circular area made evident by a round plexiglas sheet. Atop the transparent sheet is a double sphere, inside which there is a plaster cast of two male hands clasping one another, recalling the interlocking rings of the Double Genesa Crystal.
The work is based on the contrast – which is also underscored by the title – between the torn fragments and the ideal dimension of the sphere and the hands. The shards depicted in the collage are the signs of a broken or incomplete unity, while the rings of the Double Genesa Crystal – symbolizing sacred geometry – as well as the hands clasped in harmonious union represent a model of completeness.
