Everything and Nothing
Fragments of photographic reproductions applied to paper and cut-out passepartouts in plexiglas cases
Two cases 101 x 71 cm, overall dimensions 101 x 144 cm
Collection of the artist
Two plexiglas cases, placed closed together to form a painting, hold a passepartout with multiple openings – the cut-outs form a thick pattern of geometric figures – that allow the viewer to glimpse a multitude of fragments of photographic reproductions of disparate subjects (artworks, natural landscapes, floral motifs, cosmic images).
The details of the universe of familiar images become the pieces of a still unknown mosaic, of a mysterious constellation: on the thin borderline between All and Nothing, as suggested by the title, the gaze is lost in its search for something that in any case remains unreachable.
The work is a smaller variant of the theme elaborated in an earlier homonymous version, created in 2023 (GPO-1164).
