Dust

Counting lens, plexiglas sheet, drawings, primed canvas

Dismantled work

Arranged at the centre of a primed canvas, one on top of the other and staggered, are three studies for the work made during the same year entitled Esposizione universale (GPO-0705), held down by a plexiglas sheet. In the area corresponding to a small cut in the middle of the sheet and in the three images is a linen tester. Instead of bringing the drawings into closer view it reveals the dust that is deposited on the canvas in that spot through the empty square. In the artist's own words: “The magnifying glass offers a clear picture of a portion of the void that seems to announce the disappearance, or 'pulverization', of all the images".1
The same theme was formulated in two other variants, one from the same year (GPO-0703), the other from 1994 (GPO-0727).
